The Battle Cry
You’ve probably seen it. A new battle cry has found its way into our modern day lexicon. It has taken over television spots, found its way onto t-shirts, and plastered all over cars by way of bumper stickers.
“A woman’s place is in the revolution.”
Political leanings and missions aside, this phrase has struck many top female execs and entrepreneurs in a deeply personal way. After all, one could easily argue that simply being female in the male dominated big business world can often feel like a revolutionary act.
Politics As Usual….Until NOW
For decades, aspiring women in business felt boxed in and left with no alternative other than to play along with the politics; accepting less pay, less free time, less opportunity for advancement, and all while bearing the burden of more scrutiny, more restriction, and more pressure to conceal my authentic self for fear of retaliation.
The Tides Are Turning for Women Leaders
The tides are turning slowly, but not without the occasional bump in the road or step back. The reality is still this: It is a revolutionary act to be a female executive or entrepreneur. It is revolutionary to stop playing by the rules that you were handed and start playing by the rules you create. Living in a world that is true to yourself and your values is revolutionary. Living in a world that is bold, flexible, and completely within your control is revolutionary.
